Revolution II fall versus league leaders Crown Legacy FC

FOXBOROUGH, MA— The New England Revolution II (14-5-8, 56 pts.) were defeated 1-0 versus MLS NEXT Pro league leaders Crown Legacy FC (18-4-5, 63 pts) on Sunday.

The match kicked off at 12:00 p.m. ET at Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews in Charlotte, North Carolina.

 

The team started their lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with goalkeeper Max Weinstein starting in the net with a backline of (left back) Colby Quiñónes , (center backs) Pierre Cayet and Santiago Suarez, along with (right back) Victor Souza. The midfield consisted of Damian Rivera (left), Noble Okello (center), and Jake Rozhansky (right). The forward roles were manned by Joshua Bolma (left), Marcos Dias (right), and Jordan Adebayo-Smith (central) as the lone striker.

The squad today featured 3 first-team rostered players as Joshua Bolma and Jack Panayotou started the match, and Lucas Maciel began the match on the bench.

 

The match began with New England starting from the center circle. Marcos Dias played the ball backwards to Pierre Cayet, who elected to play the ball wide to Santiago Suarez.

New England’s first chance of the match came in just the 7th minute when Joshua Bolma’s right footed shot inside the box went high and wide to the right.

Just 7 minutes later, New England had yet another chance when Peyton Miller’s left footed shot was saved in the center of the goal by goalkeeper #   .

Crown Legacy’s major chance in the first half came in the 26th minute when #35 Nicholas Scardina’s right footed shot was met with a save by goalkeeper Max Weinstein. The initial save was met with a deflection off of the right post and back into play where #79 Iuri Tavares’ header was met by another diving stop by Weinstein.

In the 26th minute, Crown Legacy FC midfielder #60 Nikola Petkovic was issued a yellow card for a foul on Marcos Dias.

As the match entered the 31st minute, #27 Nimfasha Berchimas had a massive chance when he received the ball with space in the center of the box, but his shot went directly into the center of the goal and was met with a save by Max Weinstein.

In the 41st minute, Crown Legacy gained the early advantage.

 

After receiving the ball on a wide angle, #27 Nimfasha Berchimas took on Colby Quiñónes for a quick shot which went directly past Max Weinstein for the goal. The goal is #27’s first of the season.

After the goal, there was little-to-no action, and after the 45 minutes, the match entered halftime with Crown Legacy ahead 1-0.

The second half began with Crown Legacy starting from the center circle. #79 Iuri Tavares elected to play the ball backwards to #60 Nikola Petkovic who decided to build out of the back for Crown Legacy.

In the 48th minute, Revolution II forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith was issued a yellow card for Crown Legacy midfielder #60 Nikola Petkovic

In the 53rd minute, Crown Legacy FC defender #35 Nicholas Scardina was issued a yellow card for on Patrick Leal.

Crown Legacy’s first chance of the second half came in the 55th minute when midfielder #60 Nikola Petkovic’s left footed shot was met with a save by goalkeeper Max Weinstein in the bottom left corner of the goal.

Entering the 61st minute, Revolution II interim Head Coach Rob Beccera made his first two changes of the match by substituting Colby Quiñónes and Jordan Adebayo-Smith and replacing them with Malcolm Fry and Noble Okello.

In the 67th minute, Revolution II forward Peyton Miller was issued a yellow card for a foul on forward #79 Iuri Tavares.

New England’s first chance of the second half came in the 72nd minute when Noble Okello’s right footed shot inside the box went left of the goal and missed.

Entering the 73rd minute, Revolution II interim Head Coach Rob Beccera made his first third and fourth changes of the match by substituting Peyton Miller and Patrick Leal and replacing them with Lucas Maciel and Ítalo.

Entering the 81st minute, Revolution II interim Head Coach Rob Beccera made his fifth and final change of the match by substituting Marcos Dias and replacing him with Olger Escobar.

In the 86th minute, Crown Legacy FC midfielder #56 Erik Pena Boardman was issued a yellow card for a foul on Joshua Bolma.

Entering the 87th minute, New England had their last major chance of the match when Olger Escobar’s left footed shot from the left side of the box missed the right post following a Revolution II freekick.

After the 90+3 minutes, the match ended with Crown Legacy ahead 1-0.
