Peyton Miller scores his first professional goal as Revolution II win 2-0 versus Inter Miami CF II

FOXBOROUGH, MA— The New England Revolution II (9-5-4, 35 pts.) defeated Inter Miami CF II (4-11-2, 14 pts) in a 2-0 match on Sunday afternoon.

The match kicked off at 5:00 p.m. ET at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The team started their lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with goalkeeper Jacob Jackson starting in the net with a backline of (left back) Colby Quiñónes, (center backs) Pierre Cayet and Victor Souza, along with (right back) Jacob Akanyirige. The midfield consisted of Marcos Dias (left), Jake Rozhansky (center), and Ben Awashie (right). The forward roles were manned by Peyton Miller (left), Olger Escobar (right), and Jordan Adebayo-Smith (central) as the lone striker.

The squad today featured 0 first-team players.

The match began with Inter Miami starting from the center circle. #89 Cameron Johnson played the ball back to midfielder #81 Santiago Morales, who then sent it wide right to midfielder #79 Alejandro Flores De La Paz.

New England had the first moment of the match when forward Marcos Dias’ right footed shot from outside the box went just over the bar in the 7th minute.

Entering the 13th minute, Inter Miami had two chances. One taken by #81 Santiago Morales and the other by #35 Felipe Valencia. Following the efforts, midfielder #81 Santiago Morales was shown a yellow card for a harsh challenge on Revolution defender Colby Quiñónes.

The next moment of the match came in the 26th minute when Jake Rozhansky’s left footed shot was met with a diving save by Inter Miami goalkeeper #99 Cole Jensen.

In the 30th minute, the match entered a weather delay.

In the 42nd minute, Revolution midfielder Ben Awashie ended up getting injured and was forced to be substituted. He was replaced by midfielder Brandonn Bueno.

After the 45 minutes, the match entered halftime level at 0-0.

The start of the second half was delayed due to weather. Once the team’s came out, the second half began with New England starting from the center circle. Midfielder Jake Rozhansky took the center circle kickoff and played the ball backwards to Victor Souza and Pierre Cayet.

In the 46th minute, Inter Miami CF midfielder #35 Felipe Valencia was shown a yellow card for a harsh challenge on Revolution midfielder Jake Rozhansky.

Entering the 50th minute, New England broke the 0-0 deadlock.

After a poor backwards pass by #77 Nykolas Sessock , Revolution forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith pressed and won the ball off of #55 Tyler Hall. He then played a through ball to winger Peyton Miller whose delicate left-footed chip touch over goalkeeper #99 Cole Jensen broke the deadlock for his first career professional goal.

The Revolution almost added to their advantage just 3 minutes later after Jordan Adebayo-Smith outran and crossed up midfielder #66 Joseph Convers. His right-footed shot was saved by goalkeeper #99 Cole Jensen.

Entering the 71st minute, Revolution head coach Clint Peay made his 2nd and 3rd changes of the match by substituting forwards Peyton Miller and Olger Escobar and replacing them with defender Ítalo and forward Malcolm Fry.

Entering the 80th minute, Revolution head coach Clint Peay made his fourth and final change of the match by substituting midfielder Jake Rozhansky and replacing him with defender Santiago Suarez.

In the 84th minute, New England Revolution defender Ítalo was issued a yellow card for a harsh challenge on defender #77 Nykolas Sessock.

In the 86th minute, New England Revolution defender Jacob Akanyirige was issued a yellow card for a harsh challenge on forward #63 Lorenzo D’Agostini.

As the match entered the 88th minute, New England added to their advantage.

As Marcos Dias dribbled the ball centrally, his deflected shot went to the feet of forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith. He then took a poor touch but set up Malcolm Fry in the process for the goal past #99 Cole Jensen.

Just 3 minutes later, New England looked to add to their advantage further as Marcos Dias managed to round goalkeeper #99, however, his effort struck the post.

After the 90 +6 minutes, the match ended with New England winning 2-0.

With the victory, New England moves to second place in MLS NEXT Pro.

The New England Revolution II (7-4-2, 25 pts.) remain in Foxborough, MA to face New York City FC (7-3-1, 22 pts) on Wednesday, June 14th at Gillette Stadium.
