Revolution set to add winger Tomás Chancalay on loan from Racing Club

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution are set to sign winger Tomás Chancalay to the club’s MLS roster.

He will occupy a senior roster slot.

Tomás Alejandro Chancalay is a 24-year-old, 5’10, 170lb left winger from Viale, Argentina

At the club level, Chancalay has played 186 career games (11,995 minutes) across Argentina with Club Atlético Colón (2017-2021) and Racing Club (2021-22), and across the United Arab Emirates with Al-Wasl F.C. (2022). He now joins his 3rd professional club in New England. Internationally, Chancalay has made 2 international appearances for the U20 Argentinian National Team during the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, in which he was involved during the team’s exit for missing a decisive penalty kick versus Mali in the Round of 16.

In career numbers, the winger has contributed 35 career goals, 20 assists, along with 29 yellow cards and 5 red cards.

On June 30th, Chancalay’s loan deal with Emirati club Al-Wasl had been completed and the player was to return to Racing Club in Argentina. The following day, his loan to the New England Revolution was announced by the club.

According to César Luis Merlo, Racing Club had agreed to a one-year loan deal worth $800,000. The deal includes that if Chancalay plays more than 60% of the available minutes for the club, New England would have to pay $3,000,000 for 75% of the players rights.

Chancalay is set to join the club when the summer transfer window opens on July 5th.

The New England Revolution (10-6-3, 36 pts.) head out to Cincinnati, Ohio to face MLS Eastern Conference leaders FC Cincinnati (13-4-2, 43 pts.) in an MLS Match on Saturday, July 1st. The match kicks off in TQL Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
