Hackers, as you might recall, wasted no time getting various retro games up and running on the Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch. First, it was id Software’s classic first-person shooter DOOM and this was followed by titles like Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 3 and even Contra.

The mastermind behind it was a talented hacker known as ‘stacksmashing‘, but in their latest social media update, it seems they’ve run into some trouble. You see, they’ve received a notice from YouTube, informing them how Nintendo isn’t very impressed with their work and has made some copyright claims on two of their G&W hacking videos.

One of the videos was limited to in-game footage of Super Mario Bros. – something various other YouTube channels featured when showing off this device. And the copyright claims by Nintendo both refer to the game footage used. In an attempt to get these videos back up on YouTube, ‘stacksmashing’ has now made some edits and filed a dispute claim.
