Arika Announces Fighting EX Layer: Another Dash For Nintendo Switch

Japanese video game developer and publisher Arika has announced it’ll be releasing Fighting EX Layer: Another Dash on the Nintendo Switch in 2021.

The original version of this title was first released on the PlayStation 4 in 2018 and since then has been ported across to multiple other devices. It’s considered to be a spiritual sequel to Fighting Layer (1998) as well as the Street Fighter EX series (1996).

Arika says Another Dash will be “different” from the existing release Fighting EX Layer. Characters have been adjusted, moves revised and new fighting systems put in place. This also includes different netcode.

Here’s an explanation, courtesy of Gematsu:

Fighting EX Layer: Another Dash uses backstep interrupt netcode based on delay netcode. Since input delay is disguised as variable frames for several frames, in cases of extreme delays, the character’s position may be corrected. Sometime after release, Arika hopes to replace the netcode with “The Best of Both Games” netcode, which is currently in testing and based on rollback netcode.”

More information about Fighting EX Layer: Another Dash for Nintendo Switch will be shared on 1st April.
