Open Thread: The 2014 NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs visit the White House

It’s been a heck of a week . . . month . . . year!

Pandemic, check. Favorite basketball team sidelined due to pandemic protocols, check. Worst storm in a hundred years causing power outages, waterline breaks, and pandemic style grocery store madness, check. Politician ditching in the middle of a crisis, check.

The Spurs have a lot on their plate over the next few weeks. God willing, they will be back in action just in time to play the final game of their Rodeo Road Trip.

San Antonio as a city has had much restored. Much appreciation to those who stuck it out, offered support, and restored a little faith in politicians.

During the insufferable void of Spurs ball (and trapped in my house), I watched some Hardwood Classics I had on the DVR. A couple of fiesta era David Robinson games as well as the Spurs’ five Championships. Specifically, I re-watched the 2014 Finals. The River Parade, the specials on the Big 3 and Pop – it was a great flashback.

So, for today, let’s look back at a better time. One where the Spurs were on top. One where an entire team made the trip to the White House to be recognized as a model franchise and world champions.

A better time. An easier time. Easy. Easy like Sunday morning. But for Monday morning.

Wishing you a good start to the week, Pounders,
