3 QBs in the 2027 NFL Draft demanding the Jets' attention

The New York Jets possess three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL draft. Entering Week 6 of the 2026 season, they are currently positioned to be Nos. 9, 11, and 12 overall. The real-time draft order is obviously changing every week, but the Jets' three picks are currently all of the top-15 variety.

The Jets will undeniably come away with a quarterback to eventually replace stopgap starter Geno Smith. While much of the focus on this quarterback class began with Arch Manning and Dante Moore, they have disappointed in 2026 thus far. We've identified three alternative QB prospects the Jets need to pay attention to.

Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State

Drew Mestemaker transferred from North Texas to Oklahoma State after throwing for an FBS-high 4,379 yards last season. He's thrived in Stillwater so far with 13 touchdowns in five appearances, including a big-time upset victory over Oregon. Mestemaker is an unconventional QB prospect who didn't play the position in high school, but he's performing like the potential QB1 right now.

CJ Carr, Notre Dame

Notre Dame QB CJ Carr has built on a strong 2025 campaign in 2026 by throwing for 1,378 yards, 16 TDs, and one INT. He's especially impressive with his pre-snap ability. Carr recognises how defenses are attempting to attack him and does a terrific job putting the offense in good positions. He's also extremely accurate. Currently, his 4.1% off-target percentage is the second-lowest mark in the FBS, per ESPN's Jordan Reid.

Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss

Trinidad Chambliss is the most unconventional QB prospect in this class, but he may also be the most electric playmaker. Natural arm talent and elite athleticism make him a breathtaking dual-threat player. Chambliss' size (5-foot-11 7/8) and age (25 as a rookie) will have scouts debating whether or not to break their draft rules in the war room.
