‘We are struggling’: Two San Antonio businesses issue a plea for help

Back Unturned Brewing and Cereal Killer Sweets are both facing harrowing business challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic and are asking San Antonians for help.

Though the two offer different services — one sells beer and the other makes cereal treats — the two businesses share in the same struggle, according to their respective social media posts on Sunday.

The brewpub owned by Ricardo Garcia opened near downtown in January. The “we are struggling” post asked for prayers, patronage, attendance at events like the Dec. 15th Beer Dinner and purchases of gift cards, beer memberships or merchandise. The business is also asking for customers to support the “Easy as Pie” donations.

“We help a lot of people through this program, and really don’t want to have to stop or have to begin turning folks away,” the business said online.

Cereal Killer Sweets echoed the brewery’s plea. The shop shared a dismal outlook for 2021 if business remains the same.

“If we do not increase our sales, we will be closed in 2021. It’s that simple,” the announcement said.

Owner Megan Morales asked customers to keep the shop in mind for holiday orders.

“Every. Single. Order. Counts! Not just for us, but for all local businesses like ours,” the post reads.

Back Unturned Brewing is located at 516 Brooklyn Ave. Cereal Killer Sweets is at 1031 Patricia.
