A patch of bluebonnets in North Texas seemed to be battlefield for two rattlesnakes who were caught on video in a tense fight.

The official Texas Parks and Wildlife Facebook page shared a clip sent to them from an Instagram user showing two diamondback rattlesnakes “sparring” over a female in the middle of bluebonnets.

The page thanked Instagram user Jimmy Martin, or @JimmyJamesJr86, for sharing the sight. The account where the videos originated tagged Cedar Ridge Preserve, a stretch of hill country outside of Dallas, as the scene of the fight.

The species seen in the video is one of 10 rattlesnakes found in Texas. It is the most common and widespread venomous snake in the state, according to TPWD.

Facebook users who replied to the TPWD post said they’re taking the video as a warning to be careful while taking bluebonnet photo.

TPWD advises those who encounter these types of snakes to freeze and allow the snake to retreat. If a person must back away, they should do so slowly.
