NWS: Storms could bring wind gusts, hail the size of quarters to San Antonio over Easter weekend

San Antonio residents could experience a series of thunderstorms over Easter weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A storm system moving through the area will generate two rounds of strong to severe storms, the NWS said.

On Friday evening, the storms are expected primarily along the Rio Grande, though a forecast map allows for isolated thunderstorms in western Bexar County.

San Antonio lies firmly within the “enhanced” area of risk for Saturday evening into Sunday morning, with numerous severe storms possible.

The forecast calls for wind gusts of 70 mph or greater, large hail the size of quarters, isolated tornados and heavy rainfall.

Both rounds of storms have the potential to cause pockets of heavy rainfall and could lead to minor flooding, the NWS said.
