A Texas influencer who made a lucrative living off a fitness program she claimed made her healthier despite having an eating disorder is facing a trial next month over a lawsuit claiming she used deceptive practices to get clients. Brittany Dawn Davis is facing accusations that her fitness plan violated consumer protection laws and misled people with eating disorders, the Dallas Morning News reports

Davis is set to stand trial March 6 for her Brittany Dawn Fitness program, which claimed to offer personalized health plans and coaching services. The packages offered to customers ranged from $92 to $300, but former customers claim in the Texas Attorney General’s lawsuit that Davis’ plans were not personalized and check-in sessions were not provided.

Warning: The following paragraph recounts claims from people involved in the lawsuit that have eating disorders.

At one point, a former customer who weighed 80 pounds at the time signed up for Davis’ program because she advertised herself as an “eating disorder soldier.” The Dallas Morning News reports that customer nearly passed out due to poor nutrition.

“I truly need guidance, help, the right information and support right now currently have an eating disorder, horrible body image views am underweight for my height,” another former customer wrote to Davis.

Davis responded with, “Great! Welcome to the #teambrittanydawn family.”

The lawsuit claims that Davis would send weight loss plans to people looking to gain weight. She refuted claims that she accepted customers with eating disorders but 14 customers seeking refunds mentioned eating disorders. She apologized on Good Morning America in 2019 but her fitness website is still online. However, people can no longer purchase packages.
