Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili to be inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame

The Board of Directors of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Class officially announced the Class of 2022, which includes San Antonio Spurs legends Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili.

Fellow Lone Star State sporting icons Bob Beamon, Chris Bosh, Robert Griffin III, Carly Patterson Caldwell, Mike Renfro, Suzie Snider Eppers, and Michael Strahan join Parker and Ginobili in this honor.

The Class of 2022 will be inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame at the 61st Annual Induction Banquet in the BASE at the Extraco Event Center in Waco, Texas, on March 12, 2022.

After the Spurs selected Ginobili with the second-to-last pick in the 1999 Draft, the Bahia Blanca native exceeded all expectations. Not only did he win the Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2008, but he earned a pair of All-NBA nods on the way to helping San Antonio win four titles.

Manu remains one of only two players in basketball history to win an NBA championship, EuroLeague title, and an Olympic gold medal. The sharp-witted swingman also assisted in popularizing the euro step across the globe, duping countless defenders with daft footwork around the rim.

As for Parker, the fast-flying Frenchman also surpassed his original draft positioning to become the greatest point guard to ever don the Silver and Black. And his transition from a tantalizing teenage talent to a full-fledged franchise player is one of San Antonio’s biggest success stories.

Tony is a six-time All-Star, four-time All-NBA nominee, and a four-time NBA champion. The speedy floor general is renowned for his absurdly accurate floater. And he is the last point guard to win Finals MVP, a feat he accomplished as the Spurs swept the Cavaliers in 2007.

Ginobili and Parker will see their names immortalized in the hall alongside former Spurs greats George Gervin and David Robinson. It wouldn’t be shocking if their championship running-mate and Naismith Hall of Famer Tim Duncan joined them in the not-so-distant future.
