Three people killed in apparent San Antonio murder-suicide identified

The three people who were found dead at a Northside apartment in an apparent murder-suicide have been named by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office. The three people were identified as 43-year-old Jeremy Martinez, 37-year-old Shannon Martinez, and her daughter, 7-year-old Bailey Martinez.

San Antonio police discovered the people at the Winding Creek Apartments around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, March 20. Police were called to do a welfare check and had to make a forced entry when they arrived. All three were found with gunshot wounds when police made entry.

Jennifer Rodriguez, public information officer for the San Antonio Police Department, said Monday that Jeremy and Shannon were married. Investigators with the SAPD said on Monday that they believe Jeremy shot Shannon and her daughter before turning the gun on himself.

Police didn’t know how long the family were dead inside the apartment and relatives said that they last spoke to the family on Saturday, March 18. Police didn’t identify a motive for the shootings, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said in a tweet Monday afternoon, “Divorce and breakups often have dangerous and deadly outcomes.”

He said that he had a “heartbreaking” conversation with the father and grandfather of the victims, following that up with, “Help is out there when needed.” MySA reached out to SAPD for more details and to see if Shannon ever filed some kind of protective order against Jeremy.
