‘I’m shocked this isn’t in San Antonio’: Stacked haul wows Texas drivers

San Antonians know a thing or two about turning heads on the road, whether it be inventive modifications or scandalous stickers. We’re also known for overloading truck beds and failing to move big items in the safest way, but one North Texas driver may have the Alamo City beat.

On Reddit, a man named Francisco Flores shared photos of a Texas-sized haul he spotted while driving on U.S. Highway 75 in the Dallas area on Wednesday, March 22. In the photo, stacks of insulation, along with ladders, can be seen piled in the truck bed. Although strapped down, part of the load is seen hanging backward.

“Items started leaning to the point of them dragging,” Flores told MySA. “I honked endlessly until they pulled over.”

Plenty of Texans had their theories as to how the haul was able to (more or less) stay secure.

“How did they even get that loaded in the first place?! It’s an engineering sh-tshow/marvel,” observed u/darkblueshapes.

“It’s not supposed to be like that. His load shifted to the back and the straps kept it in place,” guessed another Texan. “It’s happened to me before and when he realizes it it’ll scare the sh-t out of him knowing he could have lost a full load at 70mph.”

“I saw this truck this morning right after he left his shop!!!! Everything was completely vertical and the ladder was on top,” added u/Brewmyte. “It seemed like it was 20’ tall from the ground to the ladder.”

Another user shared a photo of the truck from earlier in the day, showing an obvious shift in the load.

Others couldn’t help but express their shock and other emotions about the stacked haul and reckless driver.

“I WOULD HAVE LOST IT,” admitted u/paradisegardens2021. “I’d be calling the cops.”

“Not sure if I should also be afraid or impressed,” u/ChefMikeDFW said.

“I’ve never seen this kinda stuff until I lived in Texas. Do they never write tickets?” asked u/Embarrassed-Ad8477.

“Dallas drivers are experts at staying out of the right lane, particularly when they have unsafe loads!” observed u/Most_Roof4458.

And, in true Reddit fashion, others came with their jokes.

“This man was serious about taking all the grocery bags to avoid making a 2nd trip,” chuckled u/2wheeledislander.

“Dude just charge the customer for a rental truck,” said a sassy u/TarryBuckwell.

“‘I don’t need a trailer,’” quipped u/harmabevengeance.

“I’m shocked this isn’t in San Antonio,” u/Distinct-Hold-5836 wrote.

Touché.
