Three arrested after shots fired, brief Northwest Side police chase

Three people were arrested on the Northwest Side early Saturday morning after firing gunshots in the air and briefly evading police, the San Antonio Police Department said.

Police said a man had asked two friends to take him to his girlfriend’s apartment.

When they arrived, the man got out of the car and walked up to the door — it was about 3:45 a.m. His girlfriend would not let him in, though, so he became angry and started kicking the door and fired several shots into the air, police said.

The man then ran back to the car and the three quickly drove off without turning on the car’s headlights, officials said.

A San Antonio police officer saw a car matching the description at Horn Boulevard and Babcock. After a brief chase, police pulled over the car. Two men in the car were arrested. A third man ran from the police and through another apartment complex where officers were working on an accident, officials said.

That man was arrested at the accident scene.

Multiple charges are pending, police said, and the investigation is ongoing.
