Spurs close in a game on Portland but there is no change in the standings

Two games left and there are nine teams vying for eight spots

Yesterday

Adios to Los Angeles- the Denver Nuggets beat the Clippers, thus knocking the Clips out of the playoffs for this season.

The Thunder, Pelicans, and our beloved Spurs all bested their respective top 3 Western Conference opponents, therefore all three ended the night with matching 46-34 records. It’s amazing that the Spus can beat the Trail Blazers, essentially pulling a whole game closer to Portland and not move up in seeding at all. Here’s the playoff standings as off midnight:

Today

The Lakers host the Jazz. It’s hard to believe that this is the only game where the outcome affects the Western Conference standings. If the Jazz win, there they stay in 4th. If they lose, there is a four-way tie between the 4th and 7th spots and a two-way tie between the 8th and 9th spots. Get out your iPhones, it’s going to be a photo finish!

A Musical Break

If you are in the San Antonio area today with nothing to do, my band The Gunslingers is playing a matinee concert from 2-4pm and Big Bob’s Burgers. Great food, ice cold beer, and free ice cream for the kids, so come on down and enjoy live Texas music.
