‘Senior Special’: Warren High School for sale on Craigslist for $2,020

Warren High School has been empty during the coronavirus pandemic. One enterprising group of realtors decided to make a profit off the vacant property.

The 85,000 square-foot school is for sale on Craigslist for the reasonable price of $2,020.

We spoke with the Senior Realty Group, a group of friends set to graduate from Warren, behind the sale. The realtors raised a “For Sale” sign in front of the school’s entrance Wednesday night before students arrived to pick up their caps and gowns the following morning.

Elizabeth Hernandez, senior class president, said the group has received a number of inquiries, including “Is this real?” and “I’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse.”

Asked whether the realtors have accepted any of the offers, Hernandez said, “No, not yet. But we’re considering.”

According to the listing, the sale price includes 150 rooms, 25 bathrooms, and two indoor gyms. The offer comes with a “Senior Special” — if a graduating senior buys the school, the realtors will throw the administrators into the bargain.

Northside Independent School District is not worried about the impending sale of one of its buildings.

“We are aware of the posting and understand it to be an innocent senior class prank,” an NISD spokesperson said, adding that no damage was done to school property.

The only issue Warren High’s principal, Valerie Sisk, pointed out was the awfully low price.

“I can assure you that you cannot put a price $$$$$ on the memories and learning that has occurred in this building,” Sisk tweeted. “It is definitely Prime Real Estate!”

The Senior Realty group includes Hernandez, Melanie Mancillas, Daniel Valdez, Lauren Ruhlman, Josiah Rodriguez, Raphael Idrogo, Jayden Martinez, and Fernanda Arechiga.
