San Antonio North East ISD will provide free meals to kids over the summer

Now that the summer season is upon us, San Antonio’s North East Independent School District (NEISD) is kicking off its Summer Food Service Program. The initiative provides free meals to all students 18 and younger. The district plans on providing both breakfast and lunch to students at 31 different sites, predominately local schools.

“We know that hunger doesn’t end with the school year,” said Sharon Glosson, Executive Director of NEISD School Nutrition Services in a press statement. “More than half of the families in NEISD are considered economically disadvantaged and depend on school meals for daily nutrition. The summer meal program gives children access to nutritious meals all summer.”

Meals will be available to all children without cost to families without discrimination. For more details and to find the institution closest to you, visit the summer meal program website. All locations will be closed on the Fourth of July.

The following locations will be participating in the program at various times during June and July.
