Much of Texas is in a drought after months of record breaking high temperatures, but the National Weather Service’s Austin/San Antonio office has rain on the forecast for the weekend. Starting on Friday, August 12, the NWS says the San Antonio and Austin area can expect scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms through Sunday, August 14.

In fact, NWS’ seven-day forecast says the Alamo City could see rain as early as Thursday night, August 11, with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly before 10 p.m. Chances for rain will increase to 50% through most of the day on Friday, but only less than a tenth of an inch of rain.

Chances for rain and thunderstorms will linger around 20% to 50% from Saturday, August 13, through Sunday, so if you have any outdoor plans this weekend you’ll want to plan accordingly.

We will get a little bit of a break from the triple digits over the weekend, with temperatures only expected to be as high as 96 degrees through Sunday.
