San Antonio anchor goes into quarantine following family’s positive COVID-19 test

The San Antonio anchor went live from her home on Monday during the 6 p.m. newscast to share some personal news.

“I’m home guys because two out of the four of us have tested positive for COVID,” Arthur told viewers.
“A couple of days ago, my three-year-old had a low grade fever, that technically doesn’t even qualify as a fever. No other symptoms. I figured ear infection because we’ve been down that road before. So we went to the doctor.”

She says sure enough it was an ear infection. However the doctor also did a flu and COVID-19 test and he tested positive for COVID-19.

Arthur and her husband went to get tested the next day. The test results came back negative for her, but that wasn’t the case for her husband, who tested positive.

She said her husband has no symptoms.

“It took me a minute to get over the initial panic and then to realize we know what to do,” she said. “My husband and I are wearing masks around the house.”

On Monday she shared that her son was doing very well. He hasn’t had any fever or symptoms for the past 48 hours.

Arthur, who also has an eight-month-old boy, says it’s been hard to keep her two boys separate as any parent would know, but they are trying their best.

“You explain as much as you can but it’s tough for a 3 year old to understand why they’re not supposed to be playing with their brother.”

Arthur says they are doing temperature checks two to three times a day and have hand sanitizing stations now throughout the house.

Despite what is going on for Arthur and her family, she says she remains positive.

“You have to stay positive honestly. I go back and think about when I had Bell’s palsy and I was out of work and I had to remain positive.”

Back in 2018 Arthur was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy after noticing symptoms right before a 10 p.m. newscast.

At that time, Arthur’s KSAT12 family offered support through her medical journey, they continue to do so now as her family faces another medical milestone.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. We wish you all a speedy recovery and we all wish to see you here pretty soon,” said KSAT anchor Isis Romero.

Anchor Steve Spriester also offered his support for his co-anchor. “We are here for you, you know that Myra.”

In an email to mySA, KSAT12 news director Bernice Kearney said the entire team is thinking of Myra and her family while they’re in quarantine.

“Of course, our biggest concern is with her little boy and husband, who both have tested positive for COVID. We are thankful they both are doing well – showing few if any symptoms,” she said. “And we are thankful for the viewers who have reached out to send Myra and her family wishes for a speedy recovery.”
