Report: The Spurs have conducted a pre-draft interview with LJ Figueroa

Oregon shooting guard LJ Figueroa had a Zoom interview with the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, per a report from Adam Zagoria of The New York Times.

Zagoria also reported that Figueroa worked out for the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.

This information comes after the NBA announced Figueroa as one of 353 early entry candidates for the 2021 NBA Draft via an official press release nearly three weeks ago.

Figueroa averaged 12.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game during his lone season at Oregon after transferring from St. John’s University, where he starred the previous two seasons.

While the former Duck made a name for himself as a 3-and-D prospect, the 23-year-old senior didn’t receive an invite to the NBA Draft Combine or G-League Elite Camp and could potentially go undrafted next month.

Collegiate players who have applied for early entry have until July 7 to withdraw their name from consideration for the 2021 NBA Draft to retain their NCAA eligibility.

That deadline gives NBA hopefuls a chance to go through the draft combine (June 21-27) and watch the lottery (June 22) unfold before making a final decision on their basketball future.

The 2021 NBA Draft will take place on July 29 at 7 PM CST at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. ESPN and ABC will televise the first round, and the second round will air exclusively on ESPN.
