Reds saddened by passing of Anfield stadium worker

Liverpool Football Club are deeply saddened by the recent passing of Anfield stadium worker Paul Smith.

The 56-year-old – a hugely popular figure among club staff and visitors alike – died as a result of coronavirus last month.

Paul had worked at Anfield for nearly three decades, beginning as a safety steward. More recently, he was a familiar, welcoming face to those entering the Main Stand’s Carlsberg Lounge.

Such was the regard in which he was held, the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and a number of other Reds legends sent messages of support to Paul while he was ill.

The thoughts of everybody at Liverpool Football Club are with Paul’s family and friends.
