Héctor Bellerín’s second-half equalizer salvaged a vital point for Real Betis against Celta Vigo in a hard-fought 1-1 draw.

The La Liga clash saw fifth-placed Real Betis host sixth-placed Celta Vigo at Estadio La Cartuja de Sevilla. Both teams sought crucial points in their European qualification aspirations. Real Betis entered the match in mixed form, while Celta Vigo aimed to build on recent results.

Celta Vigo started sharply, stunning the home side with an early goal. Ferran Jutglà drilled home the opener in the 4th minute. The swift strike came from an assist by Oscar Mingueza, putting Celta ahead.

Real Betis pushed for an immediate response following the setback. They controlled possession and created several half-chances in their effort to equalize. Celta’s defense, however, held firm under pressure from the home side.

Betis continued to press throughout the first half, registering many shots. Despite their efforts, Celta goalkeeper Ionuț Radu made crucial saves. He preserved Celta’s narrow lead, allowing the visitors to go into the break with their slender advantage intact.

Real Betis needed to convert their territorial dominance into goals in the second half. Manager Manuel Pellegrini likely urged more clinical finishing from his squad. Celta Vigo, conversely, aimed to maintain their defensive shape and threaten on the counter-attack.

Real Betis emerged energized after the interval, eager to find a breakthrough. Just four minutes into the second half, Héctor Bellerín leveled the score. He side-footed home in the 49th minute following an assist from Aitor Ruibal, igniting the home crowd.

The equalizer shifted momentum, leading to a more open game. Substitutions followed, with Betis bringing on F. Lopez and A. Nunez in the 58th minute. The physicality also increased, with Cucho Hernandez receiving a yellow card in the 61st minute for Real Betis.

M. Alonso of Celta Vigo was then booked in the 62nd minute. Both teams made further changes, seeking a winning goal, but neither could find the decisive touch. The game became increasingly scrappy, indicated by a flurry of late yellow cards.

Oscar Mingueza was booked in the 82nd minute for Celta. Antony and Ilaix Moriba also saw yellow cards in injury time, reflecting the match’s intensity as time expired.

Real Betis dominated statistically, recording 19 total shots compared to Celta Vigo’s 7. Their expected goals (xG) stood at 1.49 against Celta’s 0.56. Goalkeeper Ionuț Radu was Celta’s standout performer, making five vital saves.

The 1-1 draw leaves Real Betis in fifth place with 43 points, while Celta Vigo remain sixth with 40 points. This hard-fought point keeps both teams firmly in the hunt for European qualification, with much still to play for in La Liga.
