Police searching for suspect after shooting at Southeast Side apartment

San Antonio Police are searching for the shooter in a disturbance at a Southeast Side apartment complex.

Officers were called to the 6200 block of S. New Braunfels Avenue at around 1 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, police said they found a 22-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Witnesses told police the man and a woman were involved in a disturbance with a group of five people outside one of the apartment buildings. Police didn’t elaborate as to what the disturbance was.

One person in the group displayed a handgun and shot Heaves, SAPD said.

The shooter and others in the group fled before officers arrived at the scene.

Heaves was taken to the hospital in good condition. The suspect wasn’t located at the time and police are still investigating.
