The future of former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains bathed in speculation as the close of the January window edges closer, but one last-ditch attempt by Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr could change all that.

As reported by CBSSports’ James Benge, the Riyadh-based outfit has tabled their final offer to the Gabonese star who is all but sure to have played his last match for the Gunners after being ostracized by manager Mikel Arteta after a string of disciplinary breaches.

Al-Nassr is said to be willing to match his current wage packet at the Emirates while the deal will also include a 12-month break clause which would allow for Aubameyang to make a return to Europe. Their offer to Arsenal has not changed.

Benge also mentioned the details regarding the contract, which would include a three-and-a-half-year contract. But according to the reputable journalist via his personal Twitter account “Aubameyang’s concerns about moving to Saudi Arabia have been personal as well as professional. Al Nassr has spent several weeks working to allay those fears but no guarantees it’ll get done.”

Arsenal continue January striker search

With interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang persisting as well as continued reports linking Hale End Academy graduate Eddie Nketiah with a potential move away to Newcastle, Arsenal is in desperate need of depth in the number 9 role both in the current campaign and beyond.

The good news for Gunners the world over is that Real Sociedad star center-forward Alexander Isak was spotted in London today, fueling further speculation that the massive January clear out at London Colney could have been a prelude to a big move for the Swedish international striker.

Isak is one of the hottest young properties in Europe after his brilliant season last term in the Basque country and appears to be the new primary target for boss Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu Gaspar after the club were left disappointed in their attempts to sign Serbian star Dušan Vlahović who eventually followed the Fiorentina conveyor belt that ends at Juventus.

Given Isak’s age, profile, and potential investment it would take to bring him to north London, it is clear that the club would view him as the next key man to lead the line moving forward.
