Mixed news for Tottenham: Double deal ‘one step away’ from completion but youngster rejects Conte’s men

A series of updates surrounding the transfer efforts of those in a position of power at Tottenham Hotspur have come to the fore late on Saturday night.

The first comes in the form of an altogether positive insight into the Lilywhites’ ongoing negotiations with Serie A heavyweights Juventus.

After missing out on a deal for Porto wide-man Luis Diaz at the last, word of course surfaced earlier today that Spurs had turned their attentions firmly towards Bianconeri talent Dejan Kulusevski.

Amid the discussions between the two clubs, though, the name of another member of Massimiliano Allegri’s squad – in the form of Rodrigo Bentancur – too came to the fore.

And, if the latest reports in the media late on Saturday night are anything to go by, then major progress towards a double deal appears to have been made over the course of the day.

As per transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, both Kulusevski and Bentancur are now ‘one step away’ from becoming members of Antonio Conte’s Tottenham revolution.

In the case of the former, a loan with obligation to buy under certain conditions – including Spurs clinching qualification for the Champions League – is on the cards, for a total of around 40 million euro.

Bentancur, meanwhile, is set to take his talents to the English capital on a permanent basis from the off, for 20 million euro plus bonuses.

Tanner staying put

This evening’s news, however, is not all positive from a Tottenham perspective.

This comes with the north London club having also seen their efforts to land a potential star in the making rebuffed.

Recent days had of course seen Spurs widely tipped to land Lewes FC wide-man Ollie Tanner, with further reports on the situation on Saturday having confirmed that an agreement had been reached between the two clubs over a deal.

The Isthmian League premier division outfit, however, have since released an official statement on the matter, revealing that Tanner – previously of Arsenal – will in fact not be making the move back to north London.

This comes with the 19-year-old having been unhappy with the personal terms offered up by Daniel Levy and co:

”Lewes Football Club would like to confirm that whilst the club and a Premier League club agreed a deal in principle for the transfer of Ollie Tanner, Ollie and the Premier Club were not ultimately able to agree personal terms and he remains a Lewes FC player.”
