The kit team keep the Silver & Black ready to go

Caught this on the Spurs Twitter (X) page:

“The best in the business. In an all-new @VivaAerobus Road Diaries, meet the equipment staff making it happen behind the scenes of a roadtrip!”

The minute-long video highlights the respect the players have for the team that keeps them dressed and ready to go on the road.

I remember catching a feature a couple of years back that the equipment crew for each team had to pack for road trips not know what jerseys the players were going to wear on a given night.

Once upon a time, home teams wore white and then wore their non-white, or team color jerseys, on the road. Now, there are multiple jerseys each season. The Spurs have the black and white, the white and black, as well as city edition, the SATX jerseys, and occasionally grey and/or camouflage depending on the season.

When I saw the piece (which I cannot locate, but will add if I locate it after posting), the NBA had suspended the white for home/colors for road idea and instead made the call on a nightly basis, basically tripling the amount of clothing that the equipment crew had to pack. This doesn’t include the matching pieces -headbands, shoes, compression sleeves, et al – that have to be considered.

These guys truly work hard to make sure the players are ready.

It goes without saying that if you have only one jersey for a player, say Michael Jordan, and said jersey is stolen before the game, he may have to wear a different number.

I’m betting that isn’t allowed to happen these days.
