Open Thread: Spurs fans root for Philadelphia to win it all!

Ties to San Antonio are key to fan respect.

Yesterday’s poll and comments were very telling. Many of the Silver & Black’s fans appreciate other teams’ ties to the Spurs organization, and Brett Brown’s Process garnered the 27% of the vote. Those opposed seemed to do so because “tanking” was part of The Process.

The second highest vote count went to the Utah Jazz. Many respect their players and again, Quin Snyder’s ties to the Spurs had a role in it. For those who watched Spurs games, it was obvious there was something special going on in Salt Lake City this year. Eighteen percent of Spurs fans are rooting for them over the 1% who like their Thunder opponents.

And the third ranked in the list was the New Orleans Pelicans with — surprise, surprise — another Spurs tie in head coach Alvin Gentry. That and many Pounders, to the tune of 15% shared a respect for Anthony Davis.

Even when our beloved Spurs can’t win, someone who’s spent some time here is in our view.
