Open Thread: Spurs add assistant Mike Noyes to the 2024-25 coaching staff
His Summer League stint has evolved into a full season position
The San Antonio Spurs recently announced the addition of Mike Noyes as assistant coach/director of player development.
Most recently Noyes was a member of the San Antonio Spurs Summer League assistants coaching team. The Silver & Black spent the summer under Kenny Trevino, who has been with the Spurs for nearly two decades.
Noyes must have made a great impression to be asked on full time in the Alamo City.
Per a Spurs press release:
Noyes joins the Spurs coaching staff after spending the past six seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, most recently as a player development coach. He got his start with the Grizzlies as a data scientist in 2018 before transitioning to video coordinator. A native a Granby, Connecticut, Noyes attended the University of Connecticut where he started as a practice player for the Huskies basketball team before becoming a walk-on his junior season and was awarded a scholarship his senior year. He earned his degree in math/actuarial science from UConn in 2017.
As the team continues to take form, Pop and front office continue to shape the coaching staff. It’ll be interesting to see what speciality Noyes bring to the table while the Spurs mix in two seasoned vets with a generational center and a rough and tumble group of youngsters looking for polish.
