Open Thread: Mountain Dew 3-point contest features one Spursy name

Davis Bertans will enjoy a week off

It’s not enough to snub someone, but you gotta rub their nose in it. No, I’m not talking about Allison Janney.

Davis Bertans is the second best 3-point shooter in the NBA, and he isn;t being invited to participate in the Mountain Dew 3-point shooting contest.

Well, one can submit that the Spurs are not a very “hip” team, as has been their case for two decades now. So choosing Bertans is part of a popularity contest.

But to then cast Danny Green, himself only removed from a Spurs jersey by a few months, that seems a little more than necessary.

Weigh in Pounders. Was it bad enough that Bertans was not asked to participate? He ranks higher than Steph Curry and he’s been invited. He scores more than Seth Curry.

Is it worse that Danny Green is participating while Bertans is not? Bryn Forbes is ranked 14th alongside Green and scores more than he does.

Is anyone else bothered that Dirk Nowitzki is on the list? He Damian Lillard, Kemba Walker, and Khris Middleton aren’t even in the top 40.

Ah, well, looks like Bertans won’t be the only one on vacation that week. I’ll be binge watching Netflix from February 15th to the 17th.
