New England Revolution II announce the signings of Gevork Diarbian and Liam Butts

FOXBOROUGH, MA– The New England Revolution II have announced that they have signed midfielder Gevork Diarbian and forward Liam Butts.

They all will occupy Senior roster slots.

The signings bring the New England Revolution II’s roster to 17 official players.

They are the Revolution II’s 7th and 8th offseason signings

Gevork Diarbian, 22, rejoins the New England Revolution II after graduating the New England Revolution Academy in 2019. After graduating from the academy, the midfielder played 4 years of collegiate soccer for the Providence College Friars from 2020-2023. During his time in college, Diarbian tallied 12 goals and 17 assists in 64 appearances. In regard to honors, Diarbian earned 3 consecutive All-Big East second team honors (2021-2023). In 2023, he also made 6 appearances for USL League Two side Vermont Green FC, where he tallied 4 goals and 2 assists.

Liam Butts, 23, joins the New England Revolution II after 5 years of collegiate soccer for Penn State University Lions (2019-2023).  During his time with Penn State, Butts registered 25 goals and 8 assists in 72 appearances and was named to Big-Ten All Freshman Team, First Team All-Big Ten honoree, 3x All Academic Big-Ten honors, Second Team All-Big Ten, and All-Academic Big-Ten Honors. He was drafted 33rd overall in the 2022 MLS Super Draft by the San Jose Earthquakes.

As a trialist for the New England Revolution II during the 2024 preseason, Butts scored the opening goal in the Revolution II’s 1-1 draw versus Orlando City B.

Richie Williams and the New England Revolution II (0-0-0, 0pts.) have returned to Foxboro, Massachusetts to continue their preseason ahead of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign. They will begin the season on the road in Chester, PA as they are set to face Eastern Conference side Philadelphia Union II (0-0-0, 0 pts.) on Sunday, March 24th. The match kicks off in Subaru Park at 3:00 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
