Micah Parsons, Trevor Lawrence betting favorites to win Rookie of the Year honors

The first two picks of the 2021 NFL Draft made Thursday night went exactly as most expected, so it shouldn’t amaze anybody that the No. 1 selection began Friday morning as the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year honors for the upcoming season. You may, however, be surprised when you see who is second on that list and how close he is to becoming the overall favorite by summer.

If certain analysts and bettors are correct, meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys may ultimately be viewed as big winners from April 29 after they traded with a division rival to acquire a game-changer on the defensive side of the ball.

Defensive Rookie of the Year odds

The Cowboys allowed the Philadelphia Eagles to trade up to pick No. 10 and select dynamic wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Dallas then went down two selections and grabbed Penn State’s Micah Parsons, who begins his pro career as the favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year at +400.

Standout pass rusher Jaelan Phillips stayed put by going from the Miami Hurricanes to the Miami Dolphins and is +700 to win the award. That could prove to be a steal of a wager if — and it’s a big “if” — Phillips stays healthy throughout his rookie campaign.

Michigan’s Kwity Paye went viral after he was selected by the Indianapolis Colts and will be easy to root for at +750:
