Mayor Ron Nirenberg recently took time out of his coronavirus pandemic schedule to ease the concerns of a second-grade class at Fort Sam Houston Elementary.

Kim Ware, a second-grade teacher at the elementary school, said on her Twitter account Saturday that the San Antonio mayor wrote back to every second grader who sent him a letter expressing their feelings on COVID-19.

“Impressed with our leadership,” she wrote in her post that included photos of the letters Nirenberg sent.

The 43-year-old mayor retweeted her post with a quote, writing how he was equally impressed with the second graders at Fort Sam Houston Elementary. He also asked Ware to thank the students again for writing to him.

In one of the letters Ware posted, Nirenberg told a second-grader named William that it is normal to feel sad and have a lot of questions during this time. He also assured the student that they will get through the pandemic together.
