Man shot, killed after reported argument at San Antonio Northside food mart

A reported argument led to a fatal shooting outside a Northside food mart on Wednesday, February 8, according to the San Antonio Police Department. Officials said the victim was shot several times.

The deadly shooting occurred just before 10:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of N.W. Military Highway outside the Food Mart, near Lockhill Selma Road and Wurzbach Road. Police said that officers were called to the scene after an argument occurred in front of the convenience store between two males.

Police said that one of the men involved pulled a gun and fired shots at the other. The shooter then fled on foot, according to SAPD.

Officials said the man who was shot, who’s in his 30s or 40s, was transported to University Hospital in critical condition, where he later died. Officials have not revealed the identity of the victim shot and killed.

The shooter was found and detained up the road after police searched the area, investigators say. No other injuries occurred. 

Police did not release any further details about the shooter at this time. Officials said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the shooting.

Investigators are looking at surveillance video and interviewing witnesses as they try to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and emergency vehicles responded to the scene.
