Man killed after crashing into 18-wheeler on South Side

A 44-year-old man died after his pickup truck hit an 18-wheeler on the South Side early Wednesday morning.

San Antonio police were called to the 10600 block of U.S. 281 around 1 a.m. for the crash.

Police said they believe the driver, Angel Baltazar, was speeding down the highway when he hit the back axle on an 18-wheeler that was turning out of a refinery.

Baltazar was extracted from his pickup truck by firefighters and taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
