A man in his 60s found was shot to death in East Side home, police say

One man was found shot to death Tuesday on the East Side.

San Antonio police officers were called to the 300 block of Belmont at 3:38 p.m. for a shooting.

On the scene, they learned that two acquaintances of the victim — a man in his 60s — attempted to reach him by phone and by knocking on his door but received no reply. The friends then forced their way in and found the victim dead with gunshot wounds, police said.

Detectives believe the shooting occurred in the past 24 hours, according to Sgt. Amy Morris.

Police were working on a search warrant and had yet to enter the home Tuesday afternoon. They had no information on a suspect.

“We’re always in the area a lot but that house in particular is known to my police officers,” Morris said.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Michael Broadus, 62.

Geanice Robinson, who could not believe her brother had been killed, showed officers a picture and they confirmed it was him.

“He was a good person,” Robinson said.

A neighbor who identified himself as Butcher, 64, noted that such incidents could happen anywhere.

“North Side, East Side, West Side, South Side. It doesn’t matter where you’re at,” he said. “If it’s gonna happen, it’s gonna happen.”
