Man, 47, sexually assaulted male victim at knifepoint in Northwest Side apartment, affidavit says

A 47-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a sexual assault and is accused of targeting additional men at a Northwest Side apartment complex, an arrest affidavit said.

Dario Serratos Encina is facing an aggravated sexual assault charge for an incident that took place at an apartment in the 5900 block of Danny Kaye Drive. According to the affidavit, Encina showed up to the 51-year-old victim’s apartment, looking for a mutual friend. When the victim told Encina the friend wasn’t there, Encina refused to leave.

Encina then pulled out a screwdriver and threatened to kill the victim if he moved before taking two knives from the kitchen and telling the 51-year-old to disrobe, the affidavit said.

Encina sexually assaulted the victim while holding the knives to the man’s throat, according to the affidavit.

He finally left the apartment the next morning after a friend of the victim dropped by unannounced. Before he fled the scene, Encina chased the friend off with an axe, the affidavit said. The friend reported the incident to police.

The victim told police he was afraid of Encina because the latter was known to hang around the apartment complex. During the investigation, police discovered that several other male tenants had reported to the apartment management staff that Encina had threatened or exploited them in the past, the affidavit said.

The apartment staff told police Encina was a “problematic trespasser who constantly targeted vulnerable older males within their property and forced himself inside their private residences,” the affidavit said. Encina had an active criminal trespass warning on file with SAPD.

Encina’s bail was set at $200,000.
