A cryptic text from Spurs rookie has fans wondering…

Spurs rookie Luka Samanic is the only player on the roster who has yet to play this season. That may be about to change tonight as the Orlando Magic come to town and LaMarcus Aldridge is set to miss second straight game with a sore shoulder.

Those facts alone may not mean anything (especially considering Samanic did not play against the Mavericks on Wednesday when Gregg Popovich decided to go super small, for better or worse), but a cryptic tweet from his otherwise not-very-active Twitter account has Spurs fans buzzing about the possibility:

Of course, “blessed” can mean absolutely anything, but it’s been over a month since he last posted his own Tweet (as opposed to simply retweeting something), so the timing is quite coincidental, to say the least.

The 19-year-old Croatian is averaging 15.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 28.4 minutes over 32 games with the Austin Spurs this season while shooting 44 percent from the field and 32 percent from three. Although he admits it was initially a tough adjustment from Europe to the tougher NBA style, he has continued to improve all season while trusting the process and bonding with his fellow rookies, Keldon Johnson and Quinndary Weatherspoon.

At least for me, he carries some of the most future intrigue with his skill set, so whether he makes the NBA debut tonight or not, I’m more than ready to see what he can do and where his game is at.
