Bayern Munich have been given a major boost in their pursuit of Leroy Sane following comments from his new agent that they have the ‘prerequisites to win the Champions League’.
The Manchester City winger has been Bayern’s primary target since last summer, with the the German giants even going on record expressing their desire to sign him.
Any attempt to buy the Germany international was halted when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the Community Shield against Liverpool on August 4, 2019.
Leroy Sane would be open to joining Bayern Munich in order to win the Champions League
That’s according to his new agent Damir Smoljan, amid the German giants interest in Sane
However, now back fit and under a new agency it appears that Sane is open to a move to the Allianz Arena as he seeks to win the Champions League.
‘FC Bayern is the only club in Germany that Leroy can imagine as the next step in his career,’ his new agent Damir Smoljan told Bild.
‘There he sees the prerequisites for achieving his big goal of winning the Champions League.’
Five-time European Cup winners Bayern are still in this season’s Champions League as are City. The pair looked on course to reach the quarter-finals before the campaign was halted indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Germany international has just over a year left on his current contract at Manchester City
Sane, who has just over a year left on his current deal at the Etihad, could still achieve his Champions League goal at City but Smoljan has warned the reigning Premier League champions that it’s not just Bayern who would like to sign his client.
‘Together with him [Sane], we exchange ideas with Manchester City about what the next step could look like,’ he continued.
‘The basic interest of FC Bayern is no secret. But other absolute top clubs across Europe have already contacted us about Leroy. ‘
