Leon Bailey & John McGinn injury updates following Aston Villa’s win over Everton
Updates on the wellbeing of Aston Villa pair Leon Bailey and John McGinn, both of whom were forced to depart the club’s meeting with Everton prematurely, have since come to the fore online.
Cash sets rout in motion
Dean Smith’s men got their Premier League campaign back underway a short time ago.
On the back of an altogether hit-and-miss opening to 2021/22, which had seen them accrue just four points from an available twelve, the Claret and Blue welcomed high-flying Everton to Villa Park eyeing a return to form.
And, when all was said and done on Saturday evening, get things back on track is precisely what Aston Villa managed.
An explosive 15-minute spell in the 2nd-half culminated in the hosts finding the net on a trio of occasions, to emerge on the right side of an impressive 3-0 result.
Matty Cash was first on target, before Lucas Digne’s own goal a short time later was added to by substitute Leon Bailey to round out the scoring fifteen minutes from time:

‘Don’t think it’s too serious’
An otherwise stellar evening’s work for the hosts at Villa Park, however, was soured to at least some degree by a pair of blows on the personnel front.
The more noteworthy was forthcoming ten minutes from time, when Leon Bailey – on the back of a 20-minute cameo which saw the wide-man bag both a goal and assist – was forced to limp out of proceedings.
In turn, speaking during a post-match interview, the Jamaican was inevitably asked for an update on his wellbeing.
And, in a boost for all associated with the Villans, Bailey went on to ease fears over his fitness, confirming his hope that the problem is nothing ‘too serious’:

Next up came an update on midfield standout John McGinn.
McGinn was too forced to exit the action versus Everton prematurely, albeit late in the first-half, after taking a blow to the head.
And Dean Smith has since confirmed fears that the Scottish international has picked up a concussion, owing to a 2nd collision on Saturday evening:
