The Foxes are rock bottom of the table with zero points and are facing a relegation battle for the second season in a row.

Willie Kirk will move from his role as Director of Football to replace Bedford on a permanent basis and will be supported by Emile Heskey and Steve Kirby. Nicola Williams has also left her role as assistant manager.

The decision was made at Thursday’s board meeting but Bedford took her press conference as normal and had no idea about the club’s plans.

When asked whether she felt under pressure for her job, Bedford said: ‘No at the moment I feel very supported by the club. We know what needs to change over the next few months to help us.’

Bedford joined Leicester in November last year after Jonathan Morgan was sacked following a poor start to the season. Heskey had acted as caretaker manager before Bedford was appointed.
