Here is why the AI ChatGPT is trending in San Antonio and beyond

You’ve probably seen ChatGPT popping up in your searches, viral Twitter posts, or you even read an article created by the new technology taking the media world by storm. The artificial intelligence program is trending so much that people in San Antonio are searching Google for ChatGPT to find out what the buzz is about.

Put simply, ChatGPT is a language model capable of creating responses to queries in a conversational manner, according to its website. Ask ChatGPT why your microwave won’t work and it will present you with a response that may tell you how to troubleshoot your problem similar to how a customer service representative might in an online chat, or at least that’s the idea.

The AI is meant to mimic the way we write using what’s called Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback, the online program’s website states.

ChatGPT debuts in San Antonio

ChatGPT’s uses go beyond just asking a simple question. People are using ChatGPT to write poems, scripts, lyrics, headlines, stories, and responses to arguments. Locally, ChatGPT did all the work for news station KABB to determine the “five legendary San Antonio restaurants.”

We wish we could present with an example of our own, but the free-to-use AI was at capacity at this story’s deadline.

“Squeak, squeak! ChatGPT is very popular right now. Please try again later,” ChatGPT says in the style of an otter.

ChatGPT will provide response to most queries under almost any parameters.

ChatGPT has same issues as internet, including transphobia

The website gives some pretty great examples of what you can do with the program while you wait for it to return. You can ask ChatGPT to write a hit rap song in the style of Shakespeare, for example.

One Twitch channel, Watchmeforever, created a 24/7 AI generated sitcom called Nothing, Forever based on Seinfeld episodes and trending discussions using OpenAI technology, which created the ChatGPT program. However, the Twitch channel was banned after the AI waded too far into online discourse and made the main character, Larry Feinberg, spout transphobic remarks in a fake stand-up comedy segment.

While ChatGPT can be used for entertaining purposes and maybe even replace humans when it comes to automated chat services someday, Nothing, Forever serves as a cautionary tale.
