Hays County may be dealing with community spread of COVID-19

Hays County officials said Wednesday they may be dealing with its first case of community spread of COVID-19.

The county has five confirmed cases of the virus, all but one is travel related. One county resident has contracted the virus despite no recent travel history and without having come in contact with those with travel-related cases.

No other information has been released by officials.

Hays County confirmed its first case of coronavirus on Saturday. All patients have since been in self-quarantine.
