Former WWE wrestler Alberto Del Rio arrested in San Antonio after alleged sexual assault

Former professional wrestler Alberto Del Rio was arrested Saturday and charged with sexual assault.

The 42-year-old, whose birth name is Jose A. Rodriguez Chucuan, allegedly beat and sexually assaulted a woman on May 3, according to an arrest affidavit. The victim had multiple visible injuries, which were photographed.

The victim told San Antonio police that Rodriguez Chucuan accused her of being unfaithful. When she would not admit to the charge, he slapped her across the head multiple times, the affidavit said.

Rodriguez Chucuan made the woman put on a dress and dance for him. He told the victim that if she cried, he would “take her son and drop him off in the middle of the road somewhere.”

The woman told police Rodriguez Chucuan tied her hands with his boxing straps and placed a sock in her mouth. He sexually assaulted her for hours while punching her in the back, according to the affidavit.

The victim said she did not remember much once he placed his hand around her throat.

Rodriguez Chucuan posted a $50,000 bond and was released from jail Sunday.

The former WWE star was investigated for domestic violence for an incident involving his then-girlfriend in 2017. In 2016, he was arrested for fighting at an Austrian nightclub.

Rodriguez Chucuan owned a San Antonio restaurant, La Cantinita, which closed less than a year after opening in 2016.
