Germany hand Chelsea a Kai Havertz boost ahead of Aston Villa

Premier League giants Chelsea have this evening been handed something of a boost on the personnel front, ahead of the club’s meeting with Aston Villa.

Blues continue to impress

Thomas Tuchel’s men, on the back of a solid start to the new campaign, are of course set to return to action this weekend.

The European champions currently sit in joint-2nd in the Premier League table, having secured seven points from an available nine.

After making short work of both Crystal Palace and Arsenal, Chelsea again proved their credentials as legitimate title contenders last time out.

Despite being reduced to ten men on the stroke of the interval, a wonderful defensive display over the course of the 2nd-half ultimately saw Tuchel and co. depart Anfield with a deserved share of the spoils.

Chelsea, in turn, will no doubt be confident in their chances of returning to winning ways this weekend, when the Pensioners welcome Aston Villa to Stamford Bridge, for Saturday’s late kick-off.

Havertz boost

And, as outlined above, ahead of their Villans showdown, the capital heavyweights have, on Wednesday, been handed something of a boost on the personnel front.

Key attacker Kai Havertz played no part in Germany’s 6-0 drubbing of Armenia at the weekend, after the 22-year-old picked up what Hansi Flick described as ‘a mild flu-like infection’.

Havertz, in turn, was immediately labelled as a doubt to feature for his club on Saturday.

But, this evening, such concerns appear to have been quelled, with the gifted starlet well enough to take his place on the bench for Germany’s meeting with Iceland:
