The Bucs have waived first-year kicker Jake Verity on Wednesday just days prior to the team’s mandatory mini-camp. NFL reporter Aaron Wilson had the news first, although he called him “Jake Verify.”

Bucs Cut Jake Verity, Will Bring In New Kicker

The Bucs released veteran Ryan Succop after the 2022 season following a three-year run with the team. That left Verity as the only kicker on the roster until Tampa Bay signed veteran Chase McLaughlin earlier this offseason.

Verity really struggled during the OTAs and the Bucs will likely bring in another kicker for training camp to challenge McLaughlin.

McLaughlin has made 88-of-90 (97.8%) of his extra point attempts in his four-year career and 67-of-85 (78.8%) of his field goal attempts. Last season when McLaughlin got his biggest opportunity with one team, he was perfect on 21 extra points and 30-of-36 on field goals with the Indianapolis Colts. McLaughlin has a big, booming leg that prompted the Bucs to sign him. His misses last year came from 39, 48, 48, 50, 51 and 59 yards, and he had another 59-yarder blocked.
