Buccaneers reclaim NFC South momentum with win over Seahawks

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers used a trip to Germany to get back on track in the NFC South.

The Bucs’ 21-16 win against the resurgent Seattle Seahawks got the team to 5-5, which is good enough to secure a first-place spot in the division.

Tampa Bay is 2-0 in the last two games and its passing attack seems to be more where it wanted it to be coming into the season. Chris Godwin, Mike Evans and Julio Jones all got more involved on Sunday, with each receiver going for 50+ yards on the game.

Rookie running back Rachaad White also had a breakout game, rushing for 105 yards and averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

What’s even more vital for the Bucs is that the defense held Seattle’s high-powered offense to 16 points. Linebacker Devin White posted up two sacks on Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith, and Joe Tyron joined in with a sack, too.

Breaking through Seattle’s stout offensive line was not a guarantee for Tampa Bay Sunday, but the team found ways to make Smith uncomfortable.

In the lowly NFC South, the Atlanta Falcons have fallen to 4-6 after maintaining first place heading into November. The Carolina Panthers are trying to get by with interim coach Steve Wilks, but still seem poised for a high draft pick. The New Orleans Saints don’t have a reliable quarterback and are mired with key injures.

The Buccaneers find themselves rebounding from a slow start and in perfect position to claim a home playoff game come January. If quarterback Tom Brady avoids playing wide receiver again anytime soon, Tampa Bay really may coast to another NFC South title.
