Bill Simmons boldly declares Warriors star Stephen Curry is ‘so so back’ after OT win over Magic

Bill Simmons has seen enough. After Stephen Curry torched the Orlando Magic in the Golden State Warriors’ 126-119 overtime victory on Saturday night, the longtime NBA commentator and founder of The Ringer made his feelings known in all caps.

“STEPH NEVER LEFT BUT REGARDLESS STEPH IS SO SO SO BACK,” Simmons posted on X.

Simmons made sure to cover his bases. Curry, now 38, has never really fallen off, and there is plenty of evidence to back that up. Last season, he passed Michael Jordan for the most 40-point games by a player after turning 30. On Saturday, he added another milestone to his resume, setting the NBA record for the most 40-point games by a player 35 years or older.

Still, it is easy to see why Simmons felt the need to shout about it. Curry poured in 41 points against Orlando while missing just six of his 19 shots. He hit half of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc and did not miss any of his 10 free throws, chipping in six rebounds and six assists for good measure.

The two-time MVP also delivered in the clutch. With the game going to an extra period, Curry helped the Warriors take control late in overtime to fend off a pesky Magic team led by Franz Wagner, who finished with 30 points and 11 assists.

Saturday’s outburst was no one-off, either. Curry has been on a heater during Golden State’s winning streak, which now sits at seven games. He scored 34 points in a win over the Phoenix Suns earlier in the week, then needed only 28 minutes to rack up 29 points against the Miami Heat on Thursday.

That surge has completely flipped the Warriors’ season. Golden State dropped its first three games of the year, and the slow start raised plenty of questions about the group. Since then, Steve Kerr’s group has not lost, climbing to 7-3.

Curry is not doing it alone, of course. Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg has been a revelation, and he backed up his star teammate with 23 points against the Magic.

The Warriors will look for their eighth straight win on Monday against the New Orleans Pelicans. Based on how Curry is playing, Simmons might want to keep the caps lock on.
