Arsenal reportedly leading Tottenham in chase for Evan N’Dicka
Evan N’Dicka’s Eintracht Frankfurt stint
Evan N’Dicka moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2018.
The Bundesliga outfit are understood to have paid AJ Auxerre close to £5m for the defender’s services.
N’Dicka has since gone on to rack up 82 appearances across all competitions for Frankfurt.
The 21-year-old would begin 2019/20 as somewhat of a fringe player for Frankfurt.
But he then started to be afforded more opportunities, and was impressing both in the Bundesliga and in Europe.
And in 2020/21, though an injury saw him miss the start of the campaign, he has since returned and firmly cemented himself in Frankfurt’s backline, notching starts in all six of the German outfit’s last six Bundesliga ties.
N’Dicka is currently contracted to Frankfurt until the summer of 2023.
Premier League clubs eyeing N’Dicka
And after some stellar showings of late, N’Dicka appears to have caught the eye of some top Premier League sides.
Two of which, if recent reports are two believed, are situated in North London.
According to Goal, citing German outlet Sport Bild, Arsenal are ahead of Tottenham in the chase to secure N’Dicka’s services.
N’Dicka is naturally a centre-back, but he is also capable of plying his trade as a left-back.
This, in turn, would likely make him an excellent addition to Mikel Arteta’s side.
Outside of Kieran Tierney, the Gunners have very little cover at left-back, unless they move Bukayo Saka there, which then takes away from their attacking threat somewhat.
But if they were to sign N’Dicka, he could be used as both cover at centre-back, which may be needed once David Luiz’s contract is up in the summer, and when Tierney needs a rest or is injured.
No potential transfer fee is mentioned in the report from Goal.
