Arsenal are reportedly looking to strike a deal for Leicester defender Timothy Castagne.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Arsenal have opened talks with Leicester about signing the right-back.

Castagne is seen as Arsenal’s second-choice target in that position behind Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda, who is also wanted by Borussia Dortmund.

Following Leicester’s relegation from the top flight, Castagne could be amongst the players to leave the Foxes.

Castagne made 37 league appearances for Leicester this season and has played 112 times for the club overall since joining from Atalanta in 2020.

Capped over 30 times by Belgium, Castagne can also be used at left-back if needed.

Ben White, who was previously mainly a centre-back, was Arsenal’s first-choice right-back this season.

However, Arsenal lacked depth in that position with Takehiro Tomiyasu struggling  with injuries, while Cedric  was allowed to join Fulham on loan.

There are set to be some high-profile departures from Leicester this summer. Youri Tielemans has already agreed to join Aston Villa on a free transfer, while James Maddison is a target for Newcastle and Tottenham.

Caglar Soyuncu, Ryan Bertrand, Ayoze Perez, Daniel Amartey and Nampalys Mendy are also leaving, with their contracts set to expire.

Harvey Barnes, who has been linked with Tottenham, could also depart.
